Captain Hook
From The Big Bang Theory Wiki
Fictional character from the books and play Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. He's a pirate and the archenemy of Peter Pan. Instead of his right hand, he wears a metal hook, because Peter Pan had cut of his hand and it got eaten by a crocodile.
When Sheldon is stuck with a physics problem, Leonard explains his behaviour to Penny by comparing Sheldon to Captain Hook (0314):
Penny: What's he doing now?
Leonard: He’s either isolating the terms of his formula and examining them individually or looking for the alligator that swallowed his hand after Peter Pan cut it off.
Sheldon: Captain Hook’s hand was eaten by a crocodile, not an alligator. If you’re going to mock me, at least get your facts straight.
Leonard: Aye Aye, Captain!
Note: crocodiles and aligators are different families of the group of crocodilians. The easiest way to distinguish them is to look at their teeth when their snouts are closed. If only the teeth of the upper jaw can be seen, it's an aligator, while it's a crocodile if both sets of teeth can be seen.
