Two of the regular customers, besides the guys, are called 'Captain Sweatpants' (0220, 0222, 0305, 0316, 0319) and Lonely Larry (0305, 0319). NOTE: This might be the "Larry at the comic book store" that Leonard planned to sell all his memorabilia to (0114).
The name of the store was revealed in "The Excelsior Acquisition" when the guys were lined up outside waiting to meet Stan Lee and the sign was visible.
The store's website was revealed in a TV Guide special Comic-Con edition issue.
Filming scenes in the comic book store:
- According to co-creator and executive producer Bill Prady the entire comic book store was built on set .
- Photos from the taping of episode 0220 taken by David Strick can be found on the website of the Los Angeles Times.
- Jim Parsons stated in an interview at the 2009 Comic-Con, presumably about filming episode (0222):
Jim Parsons: I did have a scene in the comic book store once where I didn’t have much to say, and so I spent the time reading one. I don’t know which one it was because it was something I just picked up during shooting. But I had a good time.
- Wil Wheaton wrote on his blog about the comic book store set:
The comic book shop set is incredible, and the attention to detail is unbelievable. Because BBT is produced at Warners, and Warners is affiliated with DC, they have tons of DC books (including archival editions that I wanted to, uh, borrow, like you wouldn't believe), tons of sculpted minis and action figures, and posters all over the shop that are actually part of current storylines in comics. Their set dressing people change those posters and stuff to reflect what's happening in the DCU, which I thought was awesome.
