Flatland (Known in full as Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions) is an 1884 satirical novella by Edwin Abbot Abbot. It depicts a 2 dimensional universe inhabited by anthropomorphised shapes, it offers a satirical criticism of the Victorian cultural hierarchy as explained by Martha, in episode 0312. Flatland is initially referenced in 0312 by Sheldon as a suggestion to Raj who fancies a change of scenery.
