The Big Bang Theory Wiki:Community Portal
Welcome to the Big Bang Theory Viewers' Almanac!
Unlike other similar projects about the series which list episode titles and actors only, the Big Bang Theory 'Viewers' Almanac' attempts to catalogue and categorise the myriad of fun details that make the world of Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny such a delight. So we have categories like "geek style" and "girlfriends" and "Star Wars".
Here are a few notes about editing and adding information, in no particular order since they were added as I thought of them:
- If you want to edit or add information, take a look at the way things are formatted on similar pages and try to match it.
- If you create an entry, use the existing list of categories. Don't create new categories unless there isn't one that fits what you're looking for (and there probably is). You can get a list of categories using the 'Special pages' link in the toolbox on the left side of each page.
- Citations within an entry are given by episode number in 4-digit form (e.g. 0105). These should be created as links, thus: (0105). Why four digits when everywhere else typically uses three? Because I started doing it that way at the beginning and by the time I realised that most people just use three digits, it was too late to change them all. Sorry. Let's pretend that we did that for when the show gets to its tenth season and we need that extra digit ...
- The episode number must always be added as a category so that entry shows up on the list of entries that episode.
- As much as possible, we'd like to avoid copying directly from Wikipedia. If you do copy directly, state that the text is from Wikipedia. Any other outside sources need to be credited carefully and if it seems prudent to do so, get permission from the source.
- I am an American but I write for a British publisher, so I tend to write using 'British' spellings etc. That's just me. If those spellings annoy you, I guess you can edit them. If you have a lot of spare time. And nothing better to do with yourself.
There is a LOT of work to do, as you will see as you explore the Wiki... and I've been working on this off and on for three months! Some entries are barely placeholders. Quite a few don't exist at all. We hope that many of you will jump in and help out, editing and adding pages. That's what makes a Wiki such a great way to enjoy the show together.
Welcome to the project!
