The horror!

The dying words of the character Kurtz in the famous novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. The actual quote from the novel is:
- He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision—he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath—"The horror! The horror!"
In the movie Apocalypse Now, which is based on Conrad's novel, Marlon Brando plays the character Kurtz and his final words are "The horror! The horror!".
Sheldon uses this phrase, in a similar voice as Brando in the movie, when he learns that a new neighbour is moving in upstairs. Then, when Raj suggests to Howard that he take that apartment, after which Howard says suggestively to Penny that they will then be able to spend more time together, Penny responds, "The horror!" (0219).
