Title
A catalyst is "something" that speeds up or changes a reaction. In this case, the catalyst for Sheldon wanting to become a thespian (an actor, in other words), is negative reaction from students listening to his lecture at the university. Another catalyst in this episode is Bernadette's innocent comment that Raj is a "hottie", sparking a series of daydreams he had about her.
